Q: You claim to have the best deals, but I found one cheaper. What’s up with that?A: First off, check your specs: are you comparing apples to apples? There are a lot of variables in buying a computer – the brand and model are just one consideration. What can also affect the price includes what kind of processor it has, the video card, how much RAM, what software has been included, etc. Our deals are the lowest possible price we can make them based on the components inside them. We buy direct from the manufacturer, add an itty-bitty mark up so we can stay in business and set our price as low as we can make it. We buy time-sensitive, bulk orders that aren’t available to the general public.
Also, there are a bunch of different condition classifications that sellers use. An “Open Box” deal means something different from a “Factory refurbished” deal. Check out the definitions below to see what we mean.
Q: What’s an “Open Box” deal?
A: At TechOwl, we love open box deals. Open box means the product is in the original manufacturer’s condition, is fully functional, includes accessories, and carries a manufacturer warranty. An additional extended warranty from TechOwl may also be available. If it is, it will appear as an option in your shopping cart.
Q: What does “Factory Refurbished” mean?
A: Factory Refurbished products have been returned to an authorized factory service centre by someone else, restored to meet manufacturer quality standards, and carry a manufacturer warranty. An additional extended warranty from TechOwl may also be available. If it is, it will appear as an option in your shopping cart.
Q: What does “Refurbished” mean?
A: Refurbished products have been restored to meet manufacturer quality standards, are fully functional, but may show limited signs of use. a 90-day warranty on all products excluding laptop batteries as they are considered to be a consumable item but are tested and working.
Q: What does “Refurbished/Used” mean?
A: A Refurbished/Used product would be fully functional, include the basics like a battery charger, but this item will have scuffs, scratches and/or other wear on the screen and/or housing. These products usually include accessories and a short warranty (shorter than just plain refurbished products, even). TechOwl doesn’t sell Refurbished/Used computers.
